MISSION HILL GALLERY
The daily ritual of getting on and off the train was broken down analytically into it’s experiential differences, both in time and space. One being open and exposed, the other being crowded and enclosed. The form of the open structure pavilion was based on these experiences and the program of the daily ritual chosen and in reaction to the topographical changes of the site as the land ‘poured’ around the end of a retaining wall. Conceptually, the design can be summarized as the procession of experience through a perpetual conduit as a threshold.
