This sculpture titled Computer/canvas, Cellphone was made with an interest in exploring the relationship between art, technology and viewer. The multiple mediums are used using a series of mediums as a representational. The canvas was left blank with just a white coat of gesso, it symbolizes art in a traditional sense. A canvas posses a semiotic relationship to perception of what art is. It is typically thought of as having a media applied to it with a brush being the most common surface for painting. The computer that is mounted to the canvas, symbolizing the internet, interconnectivity, and the virtual. It posses the multiple perceptions of what a computer does emphasizing its function aspects. Together these two elements of the piece have a compositional relationship as well as a symbolic one.
